The Japanese Embassy in Yemen announced the provision of a financial grant for the efficiency improvement project in the seaport of Aden, at a value of 484 million Japanese yen, equivalent to about 3.3 million US dollars.
The embassy said, in a statement that the Chargé d'Affairs of the Japanese Embassy in Yemen exchanged notes today with the Resident Representative of the United Nations Development Program (UNDP) to support the efficiency improvement project in the port of Aden.
The statement stressed that the project aims to speed up handling of goods and reduce transportation costs by providing the necessary equipment to renew the roof of cargo sheds and digitize container management in the port of Aden, which would contribute to supporting the reconstruction of Yemen in the future.
The statement indicated that the project will support the efforts of the Yemeni government in enhancing the functions of the city of Aden.
