President al-Alimi praises al-Azhar's role in preaching moderate religious culture

His Excellency President Rashad al-Alimi, Chairman of the Presidential Leadership Council (PLC) highly extols the leading role of al-Azhar Holy Institution in promote moderate religious culture, countering extremism and terrorism attitudes.

He said" Al-Azhar has always been a great enlightening minaret for defending Islam's values and promoting dialogue and coexistence between civilizations and divine religions".

He made his statement as he met today, Monday, along with the PLC's members with the leadership of Al-Azhar Institution.

The conversations covered a range of issues including the hardships Yemen has been enduring due to the war triggered by Iran-backed Houthi militias and expected role by Arab and Muslim nations to counter the destructive sectarian views and misleading campaigns.

Aspects of cooperation between the Yemeni government and al-Azhar Institution were touched upon.
