Minister of Water and Environment, Tawfiq Al-Sharjabi, discussed with the Director of the UNOPS's Yemen Emergency Electricity Access Project Ziyad Jaber the interventions related to water projects in rural areas.
The meeting held in the interim capital Aden today discussed the details of the project, which will provide energy for health centers, schools and water wells in all rural areas in Yemen.
The project will aim to rehabilitate 250 working and potable wells and provide them with solar energy to help citizens obtain safe drinking water at a total cost of 20 million dollar.
Ziyad Jaber stressed the need for the Ministry of Water and Environment to participate in preparing studies, as well as coordination between the ministry's staff and project engineers in the process of allocating the well projects to the poorest and most marginalized areas.
