Minister of Planning and International Cooperation Dr. Wa'id Badhib stated that since the begging of the ongoing war Yemen national economy has lost about $126 billion of the its gross domestic production as a result inflation rates hit records high, national currency exchange rates declined more than 300%, revenues decreased and living conditions have seriously deteriorated.
Against this background the country has been struggling with an overwhelming humanitarian crisis has severely affected 80% of the population, unemployment rates went up over 35% and poverty percentage reached some 78%.
He voiced his remarks during the meeting of the Steering Committee of Enhancing Economy Survival Project held today in the Jordanian capital Amman, the project is funded by the European.
The meeting brought together Minister of Finance Salim bin Bureik, several senior Yemeni officials and Deputy Head of the EU Mission in Yemen and the Head of Middle East and Africa of the OECD.
