U.S. Treasury Sanctions 21 Individuals, Entities for Involvement in Financing Houthi Militias
The U.S. Department of the Treasury’s Office of Foreign Assets Control (OFAC) announced today the designation of 21 individuals and entities, as well as the identification of one vessel, on the sanctions list for their involvement in transporting petroleum products, purchasing weapons and equipment and providing financial services to the Iran-backed Houthi terrorist militias.

Al-Sa'adi discusses with Sweden envoy latest developments in Yemen

Yemen's Permanent Representative to the United Nations Abdullah al-Sa'adi discussed Monday with Swedish Envoy for Yemen Peter Semneby latest political developments and humanitarian situations and international efforts to reach peace in Yemen.

Al-Sa'adi confirmed keenness of the government of Yemen on proceeding with peace choice through dialogue as a solution to Yemen's crisis and ending Houthi militia's coup, which resulted in the worse humanitarian crisis in the world and deterioration in different fields.

He expressed government's welcome to UN efforts for reaching a political settlement to end the conflict and its positive dealing with these efforts and making concessions for ending surfing of Yemeni people and realizing peace and security.

Al-Sa'adi stressed necessity that the international community should exert more pressures on Iran-backed Houthi militia to stop its attacks and military escalation, discarding violence and dealing positively with efforts of international community to push peace process forward.

For his part, the Swedish envoy confirmed his country's position supporting the internationally recognized government and full support to UN efforts.

He pointed out that Sweden has been exerting great efforts to support humanitarian efforts in Yemen through hosting a conference for donors in partnership with Switzerland annually in addition to support to mediation efforts through hosting Stockholm consultations.
