The U.S. Department of the Treasury’s Office of Foreign Assets Control (OFAC) announced today the designation of 21 individuals and entities, as well as the identification of one vessel, on the sanctions list for their involvement in transporting petroleum products, purchasing weapons and equipment and providing financial services to the Iran-backed Houthi terrorist militias.

International support to health sector discussed

Minister of Public Health and Population Qasem Buhaibeh discussed Monday with Emergency Officer of Middle East Regional Center of World Health Organization Daood Altaf situations of health sector and the organization's interventions in this field.

The meeting discussed contributions of the organization in planning to train national team in Jordon and support to Yemen in field of emergency and pandemics.

On the other hand, Minister Buhaibeh discussed with representative of John Snow organization in Yemen boosting patronship in health field.

The organization's representative reviewed health interventions and activities of the organization, mostly recovery projects and supporting health system and challenges and coordination fields between the ministry and the organization.

Minister Buhaibeh confirmed significance of establishing unified informative health system, stressing necessity of coordination with the ministerial team to avoid failure and focusing on needs of health sustainable and active impact.

The minister launched a number of health projects carried out by Yemaniayah Wisdom Society with support from Islamic Revival Heritage Charity and the Fund of Helping Patients in the State of Kuwait.

Minister Buhaibeh and the Secretary General of Yemaniayah Wisdom Society Mohammad Abdulwase'a signed a memo of understanding for implementing a number of health projects including two plants for filling oxygen, two makeshift hospitals, providing medical equipment to a number of hospitals and centers.

The memo includes also organizing health campaign to combat pandemics in provinces of Aden, Taiz, Abyan, Lahj, Hadhramout, Shabwa, Hodeida, Dhale'a and Ibb.
