Yemen PM affirms support to new UN envoy to perform his mission in line with peace references
[08/08/2021 03:10]
RIYADH-SABA
Yemen's Prime Minister Maeen Abdulmalik has affirmed his government's support to the mission of the newly appointed UN envoy to Yemen Hans Grundberg in mediating peace between the government and the Houthi militia in line with the relevant Three Terms of Reference for peace.

During a phone call he received from the envoy, the prime minister congratulated Grundberg on his appointment and gave him an account on the government's experiences with the Houthis as a militia known for honoring no agreements at all. He renewed the government's call for a UN pressure to force the Tehran-backed militia to yield to peace instead of sticking to procrastinations and continuing to endanger the security of the region and the world.

The prime minister noted that the Yemeni people are not able to bear any more humanitarian suffering resulting from open-ended Houthi stubbornness and rejection of political solution proposals.
