RIYADH-SABA
Yemen's Information Minister said the Houthi militia's recent seizure of the assets of the private Islamic Tadhamon Bank threatens what remains of the banking business in Yemen.
Al-Eryani said the militia's move is an extension of their systematic crackdown on banking business, extortion of businessmen and ruining of the national currency.
"This move comes after six years of emptying the central bank office in Sana'a, the looting of the foreign cash reserves, extortion of commercial banks and general public's savings in banks," he said.
Al-Eryani said the terrorist militia follows a public starvation policy calling on the international community to intervene and stop these damages to the Yemeni economy and the life of the Yemeni people.
