Al-Sharjabi discusses with UNICEF implementation water projects

Minister of Water and Environment Tawfeeq al-Sharjabi discussed Tuesday with the Head of Water and Sanitation Sector at UNICEF Dominque Ported a number of projects and activities associated with water to be implemented in the future with financing from the organization.

The meeting discussed difficulties hindering speeding up implementation of the projects and urgent interventions within the timeframe defined by financing bodies.

Al-Sharjabi directed continuous coordination and communications between the ministry and UNICEF and solving any obstacle hindering commencing carrying out the activities immediately.

The meeting also discussed a plan for distributing fuel to a number of local institutions of water and sanitations in accordance with needs and operations.

The meeting confirmed defining specializations and responsibilities of the ministry and its technical institutions from one part and the organization from another in a work mechanism for speeding up measures.

Minister al-Sharjabi stressed paying wages of contractors and persons by the organization without delay and not to repeat former delay to avoid carrying out the projects easily.

For his part, the UNICEF official pointed out to significance of making solutions and necessary measures to carry out these projects and joint activities, confirming the organization's financing to water projects.
