RIYADH - SABA
Yemen’s Information Minister has called on the international community to act promptly to prevent a catastrophic fate “awaiting tens of thousands of children in the Houthi militia’s areas of control” in northwest Yemen.
In a statement to Saba, Muammar al-Eryani said the international community “should act promptly to set a limit to the recruitment of child soldiers, a practice that violates the international laws.”
“The Iran-backed militia announces on a daily basis the fall of dozens of child soldiers, who had graduated from their Summer [radical] Education Centers, in the battlefields,” he said warning of “a similar fate awaiting 400 thousand new children the leaders of the terrorist militia have announced recruiting … to Summer Centers.”
He said the Houthi militia “deploy children to fight a suicidal war in Marib province and then return them to their families as dismemebered bodies in caskets.”
