NEW YORK-SABA
Yemen's Permanent Representative to the United Nations (UN) Ambassador Abdullah Assa'di held virtual discussions today with the UN Under-Secretary- General for Political and Peacebuilding Affairs Rosemary DiCarlo about the political developments and humanitarian situations in Yemen.

Assa'di detailed DiCarlo on the latest developments in Yemen including the UN-led peace efforts and the humanitarian situations which have been further worsened by the Iran-backed Houthi militia's military escalation and combat operations on different fronts, mainly on Marib governorate.

He held Houthi militia responsible for prolonging the war and worsening the humanitarian crisis as it has continued to turn down all peace proposals.

Assa'di called for collective action by the International Community, namely the International Security Council to mount pressure on the Houthi militia to come to peace.

Rosemary stated that the UN Secretary General is very interested in the Yemeni crisis, fully committed to reach a negotiated settlement to end the conflict in Yemen.
