Yemen’s Foreign Minister has emphasized the need for an international pressure on the Houthi militants to accept a political settlement to the country’s years long conflict in line with the terms of reference for peace.
In a videoconference with the British ambassador to Yemen Michael Aron, minister Ahmed Awad Bin Mubarak also stressed the importance of supporting the efforts of the UN Special Envoy Martin Griffiths to achieve a lasting and comprehensive peace.
He also called for pressuring the militia to allow UN technicians access to the dangerously decaying oil tanker of Safer in the Red Sea to evacuate the more than million barrels of crude off the tanker and spare the region a massive environmental disaster.
