The Deputy Governor of the Central Bank of Yemen, Shakeeb Al-Hubaishi, met here on Wednesday the Resident Coordinator for Humanitarian Affairs in Yemen (OCHA) William David Gressly and his accompanying delegation.
Al-Hubaishi reviewed the critical role played by the Central Bank of Yemen in managing monetary policy and employing it in the service of humanitarian purposes and tackling the livelihood-related challenges facing the Yemeni people and helping to afford oil products; and the importance of the Saudi financial deposit in securing the necessary resources to support the import of basic commodities, and stabilize the exchange rate of the Yemeni Riyal.
For his part, the UN official affirmed his keenness to support the capabilities of the Central Bank of Yemen and provide it with the necessary foreign exchange resources that enable it to play its pivotal role in serving the humanitarian aspects to the fullest extent.
