ADEN - SABA
Yemen’s Minister of Public Health said health facilities are due to collapse in Marib due to mounting pressure on them especially from IDPs living in the embattled city.
Qasem Beheibeh told the UN’s Resident Coordinator for Yemen William David Gressly in a meeting here on Tuesday that the facilities are operating at capacity amidst lack of resources.
He said that IDPs constitute a big pressure on the overall services and now face a shortage of food.
The Houthi militia’s war on Marib has re-displaced hundreds of IDPs toward the city center and compounded their suffering and the concentration of their demands on the city center’s facilities. Marib is populated by more than two million escapees from the Houthi radical militia fighting to expand control since late 2014.
