FM, UN Envoy explore peace prospects in Yemen
[11/02/2021 05:33]

RIYADH - SABA
Minister of Foreign Affairs and Expatriates Dr. Ahmed Awadh bin Mubarak held talks today with the Special Envoy of the UN Secretary General Martin Griffiths about the latest developments and peace process prospects in Yemen

Bin Mubarak reinstated that the Yemeni government is committed to work jointly with the UN to achieve a comprehensive and sustainable peace to put an end of the Yemeni peoples' suffering, peace that is based on the three terms of reference including the UNSCRs in relevance, above all resolution 2216.

Bin Mubarak slated Iran-allied Houthi militia's ongoing military escalations, operations and missiles and drones attacks on the two governorates of Marib and Aljawf.

The Minister has made it clear that the insurgent Houthi militia has never seriously sought for peace, nor honored any agreement it has signed, citing Stockholm Agreement, Hodeidah Agreement and prisoner-exchange deal as a case-in-point.

For his part, Mr. Griffiths stated that realizing a political solution that satisfies the Yemeni peoples' aspirations through negotiating is the only single way to put an end of the conflict in Yemen.
