The Ministry of Public Health and Population's Anti-Aids Program organized Wednesday a workshop on rights of aids-patients.
The workshop is financed by the International Fund for Combating Aids, TB and Malaria and with support from the International Organization for Migration.
The workshop aimed at acquainting 35 cadres from judiciary, legal, media bodies and international and local organizations with knowledges on the pandemic's situation, services provided by the program, factors behind spread of the diseases and more vulnerable categories, as well as effects resulting from stigma and discrimination against infected people and effects on efforts of combating the disease.
Opening the workshop, Deputy Minister of Public Health and Population for Healthcare Sector Ali al-Walidi and Deputy Minister of Justice Judge Abdulkarim Ba'abbad stressed significance of integrating state and public efforts for unifying efforts of combating the disease and limiting its spread.
They pointed out that the legal project organizes protecting of the society and the patients as well in accordance with the law N0. 30 for 2009 and aimed at providing medicines and healthcare to patients.
They stressed significance of working on removing stigma and ending discrimination against the patients and not to diminish their rights, as well as boosting guidance and awareness activities on the rights of aids-patients.
