The Speaker of the Yemeni parliament Sultan al-Barakani has met the new French ambassador to Yemen Jean-Marie Safa welcoming him and discussing with him the political and economic relations between Yemen and France.
Talks focused on the chain of events in Yemen since the Houthi coup of September 2014 and the ongoing efforts to form a new Cabinet government as part of the implementation measures of the Riyadh Agreement with valuable Saudi support.
Al-Barakani said the efforts will lead to the return to the government and foreign diplomatic missions to the temporary capital Aden, which will constitute a positive impact in light of the situations the Houthi coup militia’s coup has brought upon Yemen.
Al-Barakani noted that Houthis continue to wreak havoc with bloodshed and terror attacks on economic facilities and undermining peace in the region. He also noted that the theocratic militia continue to exhibit an aversion to peace, failing to honor the last deal, the Stockholm Agreement, since its signature in December 2018.
