Yemen, UNDP discuss rehabilitation of Aden and Mukalla Seaports

Ministry of Planning and International Cooperation Najib al-Awj and UNDP officials have discussed in a virtual meeting a report by UN experts on rehabilitating the seaports of Aden and Mukalla as a first stage.

The report, the outcome of a field visit, presented the challenges that come in the way of operating the two seaports' at full capacity, cause delay in the delivery of humanitarian aid and cause rise of food prices.

The report laid out porposals to rehabilitate the poets, replace the obsolete equipment and provide technical assistance as well as capacity building support to the port workers.

Minister al-Awj said the government looks forward to "finding a short-term action plan to resolve the challenges."
