ADEN - SABA
Parliament Speaker Sultan al-Barakani has praised the role of the International Parliament Union for efforts of making peace and boosting sustainable development, education, woman's rights and democracy.
In his speech he delivered Monday in the second session of the IPU through video conferencing, al-Barakani reviewed economic and humanitarian situations in Yemen under Houthi militia's looting of aid and committing barbaric acts against coronavirus-infected people and their relatives.
He talked about Houthi crimes of recruiting children as soldiers and sending them to die in battlefields, destroying social fabric, depriving women of their rights, changing school textbooks with sectarian ones and issuing death verdicts against 35 parliamentarians and seizing their possessions.
He called on the international parliament to rescue Yemeni MPs from Houthi militia's crimes.
He pointed out to threat posed by Safir Oil Tanker, which has been carrying on board more than a million barrel of crude oil for six years as Houthi militia hinders access to the UN technical team to the tanker to inspect it and empty it from oil.
