RIYADH - SABA
The Arab Coalition welcomed the prisoner exchange agreement between the government and Houthis as announced yesterday by the UN peace mediator Martin Griffiths.
The agreement sponsored with the ICRC stipulated the release of 1081 prisoners, 400 government supporters and 681 Houthi militants.
The spokesman for the coalition, Colonel Turki Al-Maliki, said that among the prisoners whom the Houthi militia are supposed to release are15 Saudi and 4 Sudanese soldiers participating in the coalition’s mission.
He pointed out that the exchange agreement is purely humanitarian, and has nothing to do with the political or military aspect of the conflict.
