Yemen’s Information Minister has warned of the Houthi exploitation of the poorest people by enlisting them to warfronts with the government.
Muammar al-Eryani said “the appeal by Noaman al-Hodheifi, the chief of the National Union for Promoting the Poorest –Yemenis of African descent - to the international community to stop the Houthi ‘ethnic cleansing’ of these ‘marginalized Yemenis’ reveals an aspect of the disaster that Houthis have brought upon this part of the Yemeni society.”
“This appeal also came a few months after the Houthi leader inaugurated what he called “a National Program for Caring About Descendants of Bilal” a seemingly welfare program for the desperately poor black Yemenis but, in reality, a means to lure them to the warfronts.”
