Parliament Speaker Sultan al-Barakani discussed Thursday with US Ambassador to Yemen Christopher Hansel latest developments in Yemen and UN and international efforts for activating peace talks.
The two parties discussed also latest efforts of the UN Envoy to Yemen Martin Griffiths for realizing permanent and inclusive peace based on the three references; the GCC Initiative, the Outcomes of the National Dialogue Conference and Security Council's Resolution 2216.
Al-Barakani pointed out to government's efforts for implementing Riyadh Agreement as significant step for unifying the national front for facing Houthi coup and all other challenges facing Yemen.
He praised US efforts for supporting Yemeni people and its legality led by President Abd-Rabbu Mansour Hadi and praised also US positions rejecting Iranian aspirations and sabotage interferences in the region.
He reconfirmed Parliament's support to all peace initiatives in accordance with the three references and ending suffering of Yemeni people caused by Houthi militia's coup, corona pandemic and other viruses.
For his part, the US diplomat reconfirmed his country's support to peace efforts in Yemen, pointing out that his country will work with all international partners to stop the war in Yemen and end suffering of the Yemeni people.
He also confirmed support to Riyadh Agreement and support to Yemen's unity, security and stability.
