His Excellency (HE) President Dr. Rashad a-Alimi, Chairman of the Presidential Leadership Council (PLC), affirmed that the state is determined to protect civilians, uphold its legal standing and maintain unity in its military and security decisions, warning of the danger posed by the escalation of the South Transitional Council (STC) in Hadramout and al-Mahra governorates and the involvement of the United Arab Emirates (UAE) in supporting the rebellion and undermining state institutions.

VP meets with US Ambassador to Yemen

Vice President of the Republic (Lt Gen) Ali Mohsen Saleh met on Sunday with the Ambassador of the United States of America to Republic of Yemen Christopher Henzel.

The session aimed to discuss the developments in the Yemeni national scene and bilateral relations between the two frinedly countries.

The discussions touched upon the Yemeni-American relations and joint efforts to contain the Iranian spoiler scheme that aims to destablize Yemen and the region.

The Vice President expressed Yemen's solidarity with the underway efforts to control coronavirus.

Mohsen pointed out to the Houthi constant escalation and attacks against residential areas and civilians, military positions and the brothers in the kingdom of Saudi Arabia.

The Vice President strongly condemned the Houthis' continous attacks and firing missiles toward the Saudi brothers, he said" Houthis' barbaric practices including military escalation and firing missiles, most recent of all targeting the two cities of Jazan and Riyadh with ballistic missiles that undermine peace efforts, these attacks also are clearly contradicting the militia's announcement that it has accepted the call of the UN Secretary General to a truce in order to devote all efforts to control the outbreak of coronavirus".

The Vice President restated that the legitimate leadership is very keen to make peace based on the three terms of reference, and it has reacted positively to the UN Secretary General's call and the UN's special envoy's in Yemen to support the efforts to control the pandemic.

For his part the American diplomat reiterated his country's support to legality and the efforts to acheive security and stability in Yemen.
