Presidential Decisions Bring Historic Gains for Yemeni Women

The recent republican decisions issued yesterday, Thursday, marked a new turning point in promoting the participation of Yemeni women in decision-making positions. The decisions included the appointment of Dr. Afrah Abdulaziz Al-Zouba as Minister of Foreign Affairs and Expatriates, making her the first woman in the country's history to hold this sovereign portfolio. Yemen SP, Russian parliamentarians discuss bilateral cooperation

Speaker of the Yemeni Parliament Sultan al-Barakani and a Russian parliamentary delegtion discussed today the bilateral cooperation between the legislatures of Russia and Yemen.

In a meeting with the Russian delegation participating in the 12th Plenary of the Asian Parliamentary Assembly being held in the Turkish city of Antalya Monday, al-Barakani briefed the Russian parliamentarians on the hardship Yemen has been going as a result of the Houthi military coup in September 2014 and defiant rejection of the UN Security Council resolutions regarding the Yemeni crisis in particular resolution no. 2216 (2015).

He said the Houthi militia are "furthermore looting humanitarian aid" arriving in Yemen which worsens the situations in Yemen.

He, however, appreciated the Russian support to Yemen's legitimate government led by President Abd-Rabbu Mansour Hadi.
