Presidential Decisions Bring Historic Gains for Yemeni Women
The recent republican decisions issued yesterday, Thursday, marked a new turning point in promoting the participation of Yemeni women in decision-making positions. The decisions included the appointment of Dr. Afrah Abdulaziz Al-Zouba as Minister of Foreign Affairs and Expatriates, making her the first woman in the country's history to hold this sovereign portfolio. Moreover, Dr. Ahd Mohammed Salem Jaasous was appointed Minister of Local Administration, becoming the first woman to take on this ministry since the establishment of the republic.

BaSoheib, Representative of UNPF discuss 2020 plan

Deputy Minister of Planning and International Cooperation Dr.Nezar BaSoheib met Sunday in the interim capital Aden with Acting-Resident Representative of the United Nations Population Fund (UNPF) in Yemen Nestor Umhangi the Fund's plan in 2020 and the action-plan of carrying out several activities in domain of family planning and preserving mothers' health.

Separately, BaSoheib met with Director of Universal Communities Together More Powerful Project Greik Olsen and the Director of the Peace in the Project Dr. Rania al-Haj.

The discussions focused on the interventions carried out by the Project in the fields of electricity, water and sanitation in the governorates of Aden, al-Dale'a and Lahj.

BaSoheib also met with Director of the WHO office in Aden Dr. Noha Mohammed. They discussed the WHO's efforts to help control the dengue fever in Taiz and elsewhere.
