VP, US Ambassador discuss developments in Yemen

Vice President (Lt Gen) Ali Mohssen Saleh met Monday with the US Ambassador to Yemen Christopher Henzel.

The session intended to discuss the latest developments about the situations in the Yemeni national arena.

The discussions touched upon bilateral ties between the two countries and the efforts have been made by the two countries' governments to counter the Iranian spoiler scheme in our country and the region.

The Vice President has made it clear that the legitimate leadership headed by President Abd-Rabbu Mansour Hadi has been keen to achieve sustainable peace that is based on the three terms of reference. He voiced hope that Riyadh Agreement is a move toward reinvigorating the state's institutions and authorities.

Mohssen expressed thanks and gratitude to the significant efforts made by the leadership of the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia to bring all Yemeni political constituencies together to eliminate Iran-backed Houthi militia's coup and reinstate the official authority.

The Vice President pointed to the underway efforts have been made by the legitimate government to counter the Houthi militia's coup and terrorism with support by brethren and friends in order to re-establish security and stability in Yemen.

For his part the American diplomat reiterated his country's support for the legitimate Yemeni leadership and the efforts to make peace in Yemen.
