An official source in the Presidential Leadership Council (PLC) welcomed the package of practical economic, financial and administrative decisions and measures taken by the Council of Ministers in its meeting today, Tuesday, in the temporary capital, Aden, chaired by Prime Minister Dr. Shaya Zindani, describing them as a step forward on the path of comprehensive reforms aimed at improving living conditions, enhancing the efficiency of state institutions, consolidating the principles of transparency and governance, and building an economic and administrative model capable of satisfying the aspirations of the people.

VP cites govt's several concessions versus Houthi failure to honor any peace initiative

Vice President Ali Mohsen Saleh said the government has offered several concessions out of its interest in peace while Houthis failed to honor any (peace) initiative to demonstrate their good faith.

In a meeting with the UN Secretary General's Special Envoy to Yemen Martin Griffiths in the presence of Foreign Minister Khaled Alyemany here on Wednesday, the Vice President said the government on its part has facilitated the WFP's access the Red Sea grain mills to make use of stored grains.

The meeting discussed the Stockholm Agreement (signed by the government and the militia in Sweden on December 13) the implementation of which has made no progress so far due to Houthi obstructions.

The Vice President said the government showed flexibility in getting the deal implemented especially the terms on Hodeidah port city which resemble a litmus paper test of the militia's seriousness about peace.

He said that the militia have been playing tricks to avoid the prisoner exchange agreement that would have by now resolved a purely humanitarian issue for thousands of families of forcibly disappeared civilians.
