The Kuwaiti Fund for Arab Economic Development signed Thursday a Grant Agreement with the United Nations High Commissioner for Refugees (UNHCR) worth $1.2 million to contribute to the rehabilitation and maintenance of homes for displaced persons in Yemen.

Yemen participated in activities of the Seventh Exceptional Conference for Heads of National Committees of the Arab League Educational, Cultural and Scientific Organization (ALECSO) held here on Monday.
The conference's activities, which is participated by Yemen's Ambassador to Mauritania Salem al-Arada, included electing Mauritanian Mohammad Ould Omer General Director to the organization succeeding Saud Hilal al-Harbi.
The new director will assume duties two weeks after appointing date.
