The Saudi project "MASAM" has so far extracted 22,952 landmines since it started its workto clear the deadly legacy left by the Houthi rebel militia in conflict zones in different parts of Yemen before being forced to flee by the Yemeni army.
MASAM is part of a $40 million initiative by the King Salman Humanitarian Aid and Relief Center (KSrelief). It wasset up with a view to removing the landmines left behind by Houthi coupist militia in the past 12 months, and to train 400 Yemeni experts in demining as well.
In the last week of November alone, MASAM's experts extracted 1462 landmines, anti-personnel and anti-vehicle and in various disguised forms. The militia is responsible for killing and maiming hundreds of Yemenis by the landminesthey planted have planted indiscriminately in allterritories they left.
