Two NGOs launched acampaign for countering gender-based violence in WadiHadramouton Saturday.
Basma Foundation for the Development of Women and Children, and Amal for Development launched the campaign under the sponsorship of the UNHCR and with the support of INTERSOS, a humanitarian organization.
The campaign ratchets up awareness on how to counter gender-based violence in the workplace. It includespromotional exhibitions and festivals.
At the inauguration of the campaign, Assistant Deputy Governor of HadhramoutAbdul-Hadi Al-Tamimisaid that most of the rights of women are guaranteed by the Islamic Sharia (laws).
He said that previous awareness campaign for women rights have paid off; women became involved in a number of areas of (public life).
The Director of Women and Children's Department at Amal for Development Nadia Al-Fakhrisaid the ongoing campaign which will last until 10 December aims to shed light on the most important issues of gender-based violence in workplaces, as well as addressing the wrong social concepts in this regard.
