Prime Minister MaeenAbdulmalik received the new head of the International Committee of the Red Cross (ICRC) in Yemen, Franz Rauchenstein, and his accompanying delegationin Aden on Sunday.
The meeting, which was attended by the new and former heads of the ICRC office in Aden, discussed the humanitarian situation in Yemen's cities.
The delegation briefed Abdulmalikon the role of the ICRC in Yemen in protecting civilians, solving water problems and providing medicines for chronic diseases.
Abdulmalikstressed the government's support for the ICRC's mission in serving those affected by the ongoing conflict.
He said that peace and protection of civilians is the top priority of the government under H.E President Abd-Rabbu Mansour Hadi.
He called on the ICRC to pressure the Iranian-backed Houthi militia into releasing the detainees and forcibly disappeared.
He also called on the ICRC to not be silent over the ongoing Houthi atrocities in the western Yemen city of Hodeidah,not least the attack of civilians and turning of civilian infrastructure like hospitals and schools into military sites.
