President al-Alimi Calls for International Efforts to Designate Houthi Militia as Terrorist Organization

Chairman of the Presidential Leadership Council Dr. Rashad Mohammed al-Alimi has formally called on UN Secretary-General António Guterres to support international efforts through the Security Council to designate the Houthi militia as a terrorist organization, enforce the arms embargo, cut off its funding and weapons supplies, and hold its supporters accountable.

Vice President Lt. Gen. Ali Mohsen Salehand Foreign MinisterKhaled Alyemanydiscussed in a meeting today the arrangements for peace consultations between the government and the Houthi rebels scheduled to be held in September 6 in Geneva.

Alyemany is the head of the government's delegation to thecoming consultations.

The Vice President affirmed that the government is entering peace talks for the fourth timein good faith, giving precedence to the interest of the Yemeni people over all other considerations.

He expressed his hope that the Houthimilitants will,likewise,give precedence to the interests of the Yemeni who have endured an unprecedented suffering as a result of the Houthi coup in 2014.
