UNFPA apologizes over describing Houthis as "government officials"

The United Nations Population Fund has offered an official apology to the Yemeni government over describing senior leaders from the Houthi militia as "government officials."
In its July edition of a news bulletin, the UNFPA referred to senior Houthi militiamen who met the UN Humanitarian Coordinator to Yemen as "government officials".
This prompted the Yemeni government to send, on August 9, a strong-worded protest letter to the UNFPA demanding them to retract their statement and abstain from interacting with the coupist militia for that constitutes a violation of the UN charter.
Yemen's permanent mission to the UN received the apology letter which acknowledges the mistake and vows not to repeat that in the future.
