[07/08/2018 03:30]

RIYADH-SABA
Vice President Ali Mohsen Saleh informed the US Ambassador Matthew Tueller on the continued Houthi hindrance to the pursuit of peace by their serious military escalation.

In a meeting they held in Riyadh on Tuesday, Ali Mohsen pointed to the increased attacks by Houthis with ballistic missiles fired toward Yemeni and Saudi cities and with attacks against oil tankers in the Red Sea.

He asserted that such attacks require a serious international stance to confront the terrorist militia.

He praised the US role in supporting the Yemeni government and in seeking to achieve peace in Yemen.

Ali Mohsen and Tueller also discussed efforts to enhance dialogue opportunities to achieve peace based on the three terms of reference; the GCC Initiative, the outcomes of the National Dialogue Conference and the UN Security Council resolutions on Yemen especially resolution no. 2216.

Ali Mohsen said that the rebel militia the prime responsible party for triggering the country's conflict are exploiting the resulting humanitarian crisis in ways to serve their goals of the war.

Tueller stressed his country's keenness to reduce the deteriorating humanitarian situation in Yemen. He expressed his country's appreciation of the government's interest in achieving peace.
