Kuwait starts delivering on its humanitarian pledges about Yemen

Permanent Representative of the State of Kwuait to the United Nations and International Organization in Geneva Ambassador Jamal Al-Ghanaim said" his country is going to initiate delivering on the humanitarian pledges it made toward Yemen to the international humanitarian organizations within this week".

In a statement to the Kuwaiti News Agency(KUNA) Al-Ghanaim added" the State of Kuwait hopes that this support will help alleviating humanitarian suffering and meet the increasingly growing humanitarian needs that Yemeni peoples are experiencing amid prolonging conflict".

The Ambassador stated that this humanitarian assistance comes under instructions by Amir of the State of Kuwait His Highness, Sheikh Sobah Al-Ahmad Al-Jaber Al-Sobah in the framework of the pledges the State of Kuwait promised in the UN Conference held last April in the UN HQ in Geneva.

Al-Ghanaim explained that the State of Kuwait will cooperate with a number of the International humanitarian organizations to mitigate the Yemeni peoples suffering such as World Health Organization (WHO) to contain Cholera pandemic and rehabilitate and reconstruct health infrastructure in the war-ravaged country. Other organizations included Food and Agriculture Organization (FAO) that can help improve agricultural sector, International Committee of Red Crescent (ICRC), UN High Commissionaire for Refugees (UHHCR) and International Organization of Migration (IOM).
