Coastal Mahrapeople warnedto go to shelters asMekunu nears

Local authoritiesMahrahavecalled on the population of the coastal areas in the eastern Yemen province to go to shelters as the cyclonic storm Mekunu is expected to hit the areas.

In a statement, the local Emergency Operation said that the storm has moved northwest with a 12 km/ph wind. The cyclone' center was in east of the Socotra archipelago. It is currently southwest of the Arabian Sea but moving toward the coasts of Mahra and the Omani province of Dhofar.

The Emergency Operation warned the people to take caution and stay indoors during thunderstorms and to quit the use of electrical appliances and mobile phones.
It also called for contacting the Central Operations Room for any emergency..
