Ambassador Sallal, Canadian Senator Fiori discusses parliamentary cooperation

Yemen's Ambassador to Canada Jamal al-Sallal met Canadian Senator George Fiori on Wednesday and discussed with him the bilateral relations between the two friendly countries and means of enhancing them in various fields, especially the parliamentary one.

Sallal thanked the Canadian government and people for their generous support and humanitarian assistance they gave to Yemen through the United Nations in these difficult circumstances Yemen is experiencing die to the Houthi war.

He praised Canada's support for the efforts to restore the Yemeni government, end the coup and release the detainees in the Houthi rebels' jails.

Sallal affirmed the Yemeni government's support to the UN Secretary-General's Special Envoy for Yemen Martin Griffith as he seeks to revive peace consultations in the country.

For his part, Fiori confirmed Canada's support for Griffithsexpressing his hope that peace talks be resumed as soon as possible to end the suffering of that the protracted insurgency causes to the Yemeni people.
