PM orders setting-up committee to investigate into tax evasions

Prime Minister Dr Ahmed Obeid Bin-Dagher instructed Tuesday to set-up an official committee to look into the complaint submitted by Kamarn Company about the claims against the Kamaran Company and other tobacco businesses companies of tax evasion.

Under the Prime Minister's instruction, a committee shall be formed chaired by Minister of Industry and Trade Dr Mohammed Al-Maitami and included the membership of Minister of Finance Ahmed Al-Fadhli, Minister of Legal Affairs Dr Nehal Al-Awlaqi, Minister of Youth and Sport Na'if Al-Bakri and Secretary General Premiership Office Hussein Mansour.

The committee is tasked with investigating into the claims of violations and complaints and drawing out fair solutions to maintain the state's rights and compel the companies to pay the due taxes payments.

The Prime Minster stressed that it is very important to control the customs marine and land outlets in order to spot smuggled cigarettes and deal with smuggling activities firmly in accordance with laws in effect to protect consumer' health and national businesses' rights.
