PM to ICRC: Legal government offered 100% swap detainees deal, but Houthi militia doesn't care

Prime Minister Dr Ahmed Obeid Bin-Dagher commended good deeds have been done by International Committee of Red Cross (ICRC) in Yemen.

As he met on Monday with the Head of ICRC mission in Yemen Alexander Feit Bin-Dagher deeply appreciated the good offices have been made by the ICRC in order to help the families of the persons who have been detained or forced disappeared by the Houthi militia in the wake of the coup d'état the militia carried out on September 21,2018 against the state.

The Prime Minister stated that the government has released more than 300 prisoners since it has brought courts and prosecutions back into operations in the government-held provinces.

Bin-Dagher has affirmed that the legal government has given the detainees issue top priority and it has already instructed security and judiciary authorities to cooperate with the ICRC and provide all necessary help to ease its mission.

The Prime Minister said:" Legal government had informed the ICRC and other International organizations that it was ready to 100% prisoners swap deal, but Houthi militia didn't care about prisoners and their families' suffering".

The Head of the ICRC's mission expressed thanks for the Prime Minister and his government's cooperation and positive response to the ICRC's requests to visit jails and inspects prisoners' conditions.

Feit said:" We do appreciate the legal government's support for the ICRC's efforts aimed to get the detainees released ever since the first visit to the Prime Minister in the interim capital Aden until now". He noted the ICRC has enhanced its presence in the interim capital Aden and it authorized deputy of the mission Mr Rubdrown to administer Aden Office.
