RIYADH-SABA
Vice President Lieutenant General (Lt Gen) Ali Mohssen Saleh met Tuesday with the US chargé d'affaires to our country Anne Asker Hemi
During the meeting latest developments, bilateral ties and aspects of cooperation mainly in the area of counter-terrorism were discussed.
The Vice President cited the hardships Yemen has been struggling with because of Houth coup d'état that resulted in economic collapse, deteriorated security and health situations and humanitarian miseries.
The Vice President has explained that Iran's support for Houthis group has largely contributed to worsening Yemenis torment and has posed—still it does—a threat to national, regional and international security, moreover Iranian interference foiled several rounds of peace talks sponsored by the UN through the envoy of the Secretary General to Yemen Isma'il Ould Sheikh Ahmed.
The Vice President demanded more pressure on Iran to stop its support for the Houthi militia; affirming that legal government has been very keen on bringing about durable peace that is based on the GCC's Initiative, outcomes of the National Dialogue and International Security Council resolution 2216.
The Vice President also made clear that political leadership headed by President Abd-Rabbu Mansour Hadi is very keen to mobilize all efforts and resources and engage different political forces and constituencies including the General People Congress in the ongoing struggle for restoring the state and defeating the coup d'état.
The US diplomat has reiterated its country's support for restoring legality and Yemeni people interests.
