Minister of Culture Marwan Dammaj has discussed with the Director of UNESCO Regional Office in the GCC and Yemen Dr. Anna Pollini the cooperation in fighting the smuggling of manuscripts and artifacts.

In a meeting in the Saudi capital, Riyadh on Thursday, the two officials they discussed setting up a specialized team to track the smuggled Yemeni artifacts in the international market and recover them and also discussed the training of watchmen for discovering and confiscating artifacts in their way to be smuggled through the country's land, sea and air crossings and entry ports.

The talks also addressed the matter of renovating archaeological sites and buildings damaged as a result of the armed conflict or neglect.
