Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Foreign Affairs Abdulmalik al-Mikhlafi discussed on Monday with Italian Special Envoy to Yemen Gianfranco Petruzzella latest developments in Yemen and issues of common concern.
Al-Mikhlaf expressed government of Yemen's appreciation to political and economic support provided by Italy to Yemen and its fixed position since the beginning of the political transferee in Yemen to signing the Gulf Initiative and during the National Dialogue Conference.
He urged activating cooperation in different fields and coordination through the European Union for supporting the UN efforts for realizing peace in Yemen.
Al-Miklafi demanded support of Italy for the government of Yemen to implement UN resolutions on Yemen, led by Resolution 2216 as implementation the international legitimacy's resolutions is the first step for implementing peace and realize stability.
He stressed that the International Community should stand firm before criminal practices of Houthi-Saleh's militias against the Yemeni people, confirming support of the UN envoy's efforts for reaching peaceful solution based on the three references; the GCC Initiative, the Outcomes of the National Dialogue Conference and the UN Resolution 2216.
For his part the Italian Diplomat expressed his country's support to Yemen and standing by the legitimate government in different forums including its membership in the UN Security Council and in the European Union.
He confirmed his country's political, economic and humanitarian support will continue until restoration the authority to Yemen.
While he expressed concern for the suffering of Yemeni people, he hoped realizing peace in Yemen soon.
