Medical waste segregation project launched in Aden

Al-Gomhoriah Hospital Authority launched on Monday the first project for segregating medical wastes from rubbish across the province.

The Chief of the Board of the Hospital Ahmad al-Jarba' confirmed the significance of the project and its reflection on social health and workers in medical field, noting that medical wastes require specific ways to deal with, preventing infection and avoid dangerous effect on human being and environment.

The medical wastes are those resulted from medical facility or lab or any research center or labs and include biological molecules or organic objects not allowed to be left in the open environment, he said.

Inaugurating the project is considered the first step in incident and emergency center and focuses on 31 units, said the Head of Medical Burner Department YousofAbdulwadood.
