Government keen to achieve peace, VP tells UN envoy

Vice pesident Lt. Gen. Ali Mohsen Saleh said that the government is keen to achieve peace based on the GCC Initiative, the National Dialogues outcomes and the UNSC resolution 2216.

He made the remarks during a meeting with the UN Secretary General's Special Envoy to Yemen IsmaiilOuldCheikh Ahmed, in Riyadh on Thursday.

The meeting was meant to discuss the resumption of the stalled political talks betweenYemen and the Iran-aligned Saleh-Houthi coup militias.

The vice president hailed the envoy's efforts in pursuance of a fair lasting peace. He said that the coup militias continue to forestall the resumption of the political process by persisting with varied sorts of atrocities from killing to abductions, through freedom denials and starving to draining the national resources and confiscating the humanitarian relief aid arriving for the destitute in Yemen.

The envoy on his part reaffirmed the international community's commitment to seeking a just lasting resolution of the Yemeni conflict
