Arab League and FAO discuss food and water security

The Arab League Secretary General and the UN Food and Agriculture Organization Director-General discussed today cooperation in issues of water and food security, the AL Secretary General spokesman Mahmoud Afifi said today.
The FAO Director-General José Graziano da Silva met the AL Secretary General Ahmed Abu Elgheit at an event co-hosted by the Arab League on the sidelines of FAO's biennial Conference in Rome.
Abu Elgheit expressed appreciation to the FAO for their support to the Arab states facing humanitarian crises and armed conflicts, including Syria, Libya, Yemen and Somalia.
The FAO briefed Abu Elgheit on the most important programs that they are carrying out in the region and their commitments to achieving food and water security.
