Yemeni Rights Network Documents 219 Houthi Violations in Taiz in 48 Hours
[15/10/2026 10:58]
ADEN-SABA

The Yemeni Network for Rights and Freedoms said it had documented 219 crimes and violations committed by Houthi militias in Taiz Governorate over the past 48 hours.

In a statement issued on Thursday, the network said the violations included killings, injuries, abductions, enforced disappearances, raids, searches and looting of homes, indiscriminate shelling of residential neighborhoods, and an intensified siege of the city.

Its field team documented the deaths of seven civilians and injuries to nine others in incidents involving shelling of residential homes, a landmine explosion, and being run over by a military vehicle belonging to the militias.

The statement said the militias raided, searched and looted more than 130 homes in the areas of Al-Turbah, Al-Shamayatayn, Al-Hujariyah and Jabal Habashi. They also abducted and forcibly disappeared 26 people, including children, elderly people and patients, and transferred them to Ibb and Dhamar governorates, raising concerns about their safety and whereabouts and deepening the suffering of their families.

The network reported that the militias fired around 377 projectiles at the city, damaging approximately 29 homes and 18 private vehicles, with varying degrees of partial and total destruction. The attacks spread fear and panic among residents, particularly women and children.

The statement also said the Houthi militias continued to tighten the siege on Taiz, preventing the entry of essential goods, food supplies, fuel and medicines. The continued restrictions, coupled with the escalation, are worsening the humanitarian crisis, threatening residents' lives and depriving them of basic necessities.
