Yemen's Chargé d'Affaires in Cairo, Minister Plenipotentiary Yaseen al-Suwaie, has held talks with an Egyptian Foreign Ministry official on a range of issues affecting Yemenis living in Egypt, including students, prisoners and nationals stranded in Gaza.
During his meeting with Ambassador Haddad al-Gohary, Egypt's Assistant Foreign Minister for Protocol and Egyptians Abroad, al-Suwaie raised difficulties surrounding security clearance procedures for Yemeni students pursuing their education in Egypt.
He also discussed the situation of Yemeni prisoners in Egyptian jails and the possibility of easing sentences for some, in addition to concerns over Yemenis stranded in the Gaza Strip.
Al-Suwaie expressed Yemen's appreciation for the facilities extended by Egypt to members of the Yemeni community, particularly as Yemen continues to grapple with the consequences of the Houthi militia coup and the years of conflict that followed.
For his part, al-Gohary reaffirmed Egypt's unwavering support for the Yemeni people and Yemen's constitutional legitimacy, stressing Cairo's commitment to facilitating the affairs of the Yemeni community and working to resolve the issues raised.
