State Minister Discusses with British Ambassador Strengthening Cooperation, Supporting Yemeni Women

State Minister for Women’s Affairs Dr. Ahd Jaassous discussed Wednesday with the United Kingdom’s Ambassador to Yemen Abda Sharif, the latest developments and ways to strengthen joint cooperation in support of efforts to empower Yemeni women.

During the meeting, held via video conference, the two sides discussed the humanitarian and economic repercussions affecting the lives of women in Yemen, as well as the urgent need to enhance their participation in various fields, including public affairs, peacebuilding processes, and decision-making.

Minister Jaassous highlighted the government’s efforts to strengthen women’s presence in leadership positions and policymaking, and to create a supportive environment that ensures their effective participation in development and stability efforts.

She stressed the importance of expanding areas of cooperation with international partners to support programs aimed at building women’s capacities and empowering them economically and socially.

For her part, the British Ambassador affirmed the United Kingdom’s commitment to supporting women’s issues in Yemen and continuing to support projects aimed at promoting the economic and social empowerment of women.

Such efforts, she noted, would help expand opportunities for women to participate in various sectors and contribute to development and peacebuilding efforts.
