Minister of State for Women’s Affairs, Dr. Ahed Jaassous discussed Monday with U.S. Chargé d’Affaires to Yemen Neil Hopp ways to strengthen joint cooperation in empowering Yemeni women and supporting their participation in various fields and sectors within state institutions.
The meeting addressed the challenges facing Yemeni women amid the current economic, social and security conditions.
Ways to develop mechanisms for responding to these challenges in a manner that contributes to strengthening women’s protection, supporting their rights, and expanding opportunities for their participation in public life were also discussed.
Jaassous emphasized the importance of coordinated governmental and international efforts to support women’s issues and enhance their presence in decision-making and peacebuilding processes, in line with the priorities of the current stage and the needs of Yemeni society. She also praised the role played by the United States in supporting programs related to women’s empowerment in Yemeni society.
For his part, the US diplomat reaffirmed his country’s commitment to continuing to support efforts to empower Yemeni women and enhance their participation across various fields.
He highlighted the importance of partnership and coordination between the two sides in supporting programs that contribute to improving women’s conditions and strengthening their role in peacebuilding and development.
