Speaker of Shura Council Confers with EU Ambassador over Developments in Yemen

the Speaker of the Shura Council Dr. Ahmed Bin Dagher met today, Thursday, in Amman, Jordan, with the European Union (EU) Ambassador to the Republic of Yemen Patrick Simonnet.

They conferred over the developments in Yemen, namely political and humanitarian situations and efforts to bring peace to Yemen.

The talks covered ongoing escalation and violations by the Iran-allied Houthi terrorist militias against the Yemeni people and their impact on security and stability in Yemen and the region.

Bin Dagher restated that the Presidential Leadership Council and the Yemeni government are committed to the option of a fair and comprehensive peace, based on the agreed-upon references.

The Speaker of the Shura Council called on the EU to continue their support for the Yemeni government and take more effective steps to help deterring the terrorist Houthis militias.
The EU Ambassador confirmed the EU's continued support for the UN-led peace efforts.
He stated that the EU is committed to backing a comprehensive political solution, supporting efforts to ease humanitarian suffering and enhancing security and stability in Yemen.
